are tried out in our registered program to some degree, so that
we may monitor their mating results.
In early
October, we ship out 150-175 commercial feeder calves. These are
Red Angus calves, raised on native eastern Montana range grasses
with no creep feed supplements. Steer calves generally weigh 600-650#
and heifer calves weigh 540-590#. We retain
approximately 25% of the heifer calves as replacements. The remainder
of the calves are available for contracted sales at any time between
birthing and shipping. We invite your inquiries and would be happy
to show you the cattle.
Some of the bulls used in our commercial bull
battery are bulls that we have raised in our Registered Red Angus
Herd. We also buy bulls from other purebred Red Angus herds in
the area. Most of these
are tried out in our registered program to some degree, so that
we may monitor their mating results.
We focus on cattle with length, volume and thickness. Cattle raised in our environment must be easy fleshing and sound to withstand harsh winter conditions and the often dry, hot summers. We believe that cattle need the genetic potential bred into them to perform so that they are not heavily dependent on their environment.
